Handmade lavender soap is a little luxury that I allow myself in the States and one that I can more easily afford in the south of France since I am very close to the source here. The lovely lavender fields that we see on calendars are typical of this region. I bought this soap at the Crest market last Saturday and had a wonderful conversation with the woman who made it. When I told her that I would love to live in France one day, she offered me her 70+-year-old husband's hand in marriage.
